Confession o’clock
June 12, 2008
I’m going to be a teency bit bold here and suggest that everyone (or at least everyone who contributes to this blog) has that one designer or label or store that no matter how dumb or overpriced or ugly something is, you always somehow manage to secretly like everything.
For me, this line is Built by Wendy.
O, BBW, you never fail to excite, enthrall, and positively titillate me with exactly the same shit season after season!
How do you do it??
O, how I yearn for each and every one of your insanely expensive dresses that look like actual paper bags! O, how I long for your smock tops that would make me look like I was pregnant and/or nursing! O, how I would love to rock a pair of your highwaisted pants that are totally average in every way and offer up zero things that are new or different!
Big sigh.
For awhile, I was convinced that I needed this:
After approximately 6 months of rumination, I have come to the conclusion that it is both dumb AND I don’t need it.
…but I still like it!
WHY.
BBW is the fashion equivalent of that lame dude who is equal parts not cute, not funny, and incredibly stupid and yet, for some inexplicable reason you just can’t get over him.
Maybe I should perform some sort of elaborate voodoo ritual over my one pair of BBW jeans (that are totally ugly and don’t fit well at all, btw) and a bunch of pictures of all of things I just can’t help but desire.
O, BBW, I wish I knew how to quit you.

Oh dear Jess. . .you definitely claimed that those BBW jeans were a gift from god when first you purchased them. We’re not fooled- just because you find the dress dumb and unnecessary doesn’t mean you don’t want it.
Buy it. I dare you. Double.Dog.Dare. you to.

my best friend in prague was/still is obsessed with built by wendy, and refused to tell me for a long time where her goodies came from because she doesn’t like to share (ex.: i wasn’t allowed to borrow her mac lipstick after i got compliments in it). although i have yet to cave in to dear wendy’s atrocious prices, i’ve been ogling this outfit for months:

the worst part is, shouldn’t it be simple to re-create such an outfit without spending $300 on shit brooklyn made cotton?

i agree with everyone on BBW. So not worth it, but so… worth it. I can’t find my BBW hoodie and it makes me want to gauge out my eyes.
